Basketball is done for this season and my Lakers did not do it this year which I was disappointed by but the team who beat them had one of my favorite players and his team won the NBA title. It was even more fitting because he said he would retire once this basketball season was done. I’m talking about David Robinson “The Admiral” and the San Antonio Spurs.
David is leaving the NBA as a winner but guess what even if David had not been part of the team that won it all this year he was a winner.
It is more important who you are than what you do. David is a man who loves God. At the end of the game the other night he thanked his God. Too often people with faith in God act like they cannot play hard but those of us who follow God should do all we do to God’s glory.
David was a hard tough player without going over the line and being a dirty player.
David said God does not want any wimps on His team.
David cared about others. David help to start a school in Texas for kids who parents could not afford to send them to a private school based on faith in God.
It was fitting that David got to go out with a title on Father’s Day while his children and his own dad watched. But even if David’s team had not won he would still have been a winner.
All of us who love basketball and have family values should be glad for David playing in the NBA.
There is a time for things to start and a time for things to come to an end.
Thank you David for all you did Bless you for standing for God and treating people the way Jesus would while giving your best in the calling you were given.
