Motorcycle Air Filters

Motorcycle air filters are installed to improve airflow and product the engine from dirt. An Air filter is present in almost all bikes no matter what the make or model. The air filter is also designed to increase the acceleration and horsepower of a motorcycle. The basic features of motorcycle air filters are as follows: They create a high airflow with excellent filtration. They are washable and reusable and will last up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is required (also depending on driving conditions). The air filter works with the original manufacturer vehicle electronics and are environmentally friendly. The reusable air filters reduce the volume of disposable air filters that end up in landfills.

Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts

Whenever a motorcycle part needs to be replaced, there are two options the bike owner has. He can avail himself of original equipment manufacturers (OEM), or of aftermarket parts.

OEM

OEM parts are the components of the motorcycle that come with the vehicle when purchased directly from the vendor; they are brand new and unchanged. This means that replacing a component of your motorcycle with an OEM part is like replacing it with an original part used to setup your motorcycle. OEM parts are outsourced to a third party company that supplies the component needed for the motorcycle. These parts are workable, but tend to be more expensive, since they are considered to be original parts.

Carbon Fiber and the Motorcycle Helmet

Carbon fiber motorcycle helmets are one of the most modern helmets around. The carbon fiber material used in motorcycle helmets refer to carbon filament threads woven into cloth or felt. It can also be a composite material made from carbon filaments that make up the protective shell of your helmet. This material can also be combined with another material such as Kevlar in the manufacture of stronger and lighter helmet models.

Carbon fibers in helmets are made by superheating an acrylic fiber that results to better strength and stiffness to weight properties. Carbon fiber composites can achieve the strength of metals at a significant savings in weight, the two factors needed in making quality motorcycle helmets.

Harley-Davidson Motorcycles

In the year 1970 Harley Davidson motorcycles were the only heavy weight motorcycle manufacturer in the US. Because of this advantage they very quickly dominated motorcycle sales.

Because Harley only targeted the heavy-weight market it made it very easy for the Japanese competition to find their niche making light to medium-weight cycles. As a result Harley Davidson had to adjust it’s marketing mix to meet the needs of its customers.
