I bought this tool 12 years ago and have used it on over a thousand vehicles since. It is one rugged tool made by Porter-Cable. I have not had any trouble with the unit in 12 years but I have the unit maintained regularly. Most ACE hardware stores are authorized service centers for Porter Cable.
Using this tool to polish paint makes the job at least 10 times faster than by hand and does a significantly better job than hand polishing can do. It is nearly impossible to harm your paint with this tool and I’d consider it a “must have” for anyone serious about keeping their car in pristine condition.
There are a few new products on the market today all made in China. I don’t believe they will be running in 12 years. Also don’t confuse this tool with a $30 buffer. Those cheap buffers don’t have the power needed to polish paint.
